Mirah with Spectratone International
recording in Olympia, April, 2006.
Spectratone International
is Kyle Hanson on accordion, Kane Mathis on oud, Jane Hall on percussion and Lori Goldston on cello.
Their sound occupies a territory between near and far, rock and folk, sublime and sneaky. Poet Sharon Olds nailed it when she remarked that their music
had “the perfect balance of buoyancy and melancholy.” With traces of The Black Cat Orchestra’s international palette, but with an acoustic sound
that replaces drum set and horns with the folkier and more chamber music-like textures of oud and hand percussion.
